Secretagogue - induced Changes in Membrane Calcium Permeability in Chicken and Chinchilla lleal Mucosa
نویسنده
چکیده
Substance P (SP), neurotensin (NT), bombesin (BB), serotonin (5HT), and carbamylcholine (CCH) transiently increase electrogenic anion secretion in chinchilla and chicken ileum. SP and CCH also transiently inhibit amiloride-sensitive Na/H exchange in isolated chicken enterocytes. Loperamide (LP) inhibits the short-circuit current responses caused by SP, NT, and BB, but not those caused by CCH, 5HT, Ca ionophore, or cyclic nucleotides. Similarly, LP inhibits the effects of SP, but not those of CCH, on Na/H exchange. LP inhibition of the SP effects was further studied in isolated chicken enterocytes. CCH and SP transiently increased cytosolic Ca activity by 20-50 nmol/liter, but only the response to SP was inhibited by LP (10-' M) and by the absence of extraceliular Ca. We conclude (a) SP and CCH effects on intestinal electrolyte transport are mediated by increasing enterocyte Ca activity and (b) LP specifically inhibits peptide hormone-activated Ca entry by an opiate receptor-independent mechanism.

The Tween 80 Toxicity in Chicken Embryos and Effect on the Kinetics of Newcastle Disease Virus Replication
Background: Non-ionic surfactant, Tween-80 (TW80) is commonly used for drug delivery due to its effect on the cell membrane permeation. The change in permeability can also increase viral infectivity in cells. This study was undertaken to improve upon Newcastle disease virus (NDV) titer cultivated with embryonic chicken eggs. Methods: The toxicity of TW80 was investigated against chicken embryo...
متن کاملOxidative membrane damage and its involvement in gamma radiation-induced apoptotic cell death.
Background: Recent results have provided increasing evidence to support involvement of membrane damage in the mechanism of ionizing radiation induced killing of mammalian cells. These findings have stimulated renewed interest in evaluating the damage to membrane as a primary initiator in radiation-induced cell killing especially in apoptotic death. The present study was aimed to gain deeper ins...

Objective: Extracts of Anchomanes difformis (AD) are used in folkloric medicine to treat several diseases and infections. However, their roles in mitochondrial permeability transition pore opening are not known. Material and Methods: The viability of mitochondria isolated from Wistar rat liver used in this experiment, was assessed by monitoring their swel...
متن کاملDetermining whether positively-charged channel-forming molecules of polyene antibiotic with aromatic groups affect muscle activity?
This article evaluates the effect of membrane active channel-forming polyene antibiotic (PA) of levorin and its alkyl derivatives on the muscle performance. The membrane channels of muscle cells are capable to transport ions of potassium, sodium, and calcium. In the period of an intensive muscle exercise, the necessity for organic substrates increases and these channels start to work with the g...
